A Demon, Squeamish, or Geographically-Challenged?

A prospective student called yesterday for directions to Nearby Women’s College from New Jersey, but she didn’t want to take a bridge or a tunnel.  She was very disappointed when I told her a water crossing was unavoidable.

Not everyone in this state is that stupid, I swear.

Could she have taken a ferry? Or a light aircraft?

A ferry IS an option, but she didn’t want to do that, either.

Once I gave her the directions, she asked me if she could take the Deegan BEFORE she got on the GW. (Much as someone might ask if they can have the soup as an appetizer or with the entree). I explained that it would only work on the way back home.

It was a difficult conversation that would have been easier with visual aids, but she claimed only to know how to use the internet for retrieving emails. So, teaching her how to use online maps would have been fruitless.

I wonder if she’ll ever show up here.

She’ll never get out of Jersey.
