Blood in My Eye

June 3, 2008 at 12:25 pm (Uncategorized)

My conjunctival cyst has flared up into a big old conjunctival hemorrhage.  And I have completely grossed myself out researching it online.

Good news is that it will go away by itself and I have nothing to worry about as long as there’s no change in my vision, discharge, or pain.  Bad news is I get to add this to the list of unexplained conditions that I have.

Ick. Can you put an ice pack or something over that?

    Oh no! Is it painful?

I am going to the eye doctor after all. My mother has an appt. tomorrow anyway.

It doesn’t hurt, which is why I suspect it’s no big deal–just one of those things that happen. Right now it feels like I have an eyelash caught in my eye, which I know is the cyst scraping against my eyelid. My eyes have been very irritated lately by the big puffs of vegetation flying around. I expect that’s the cause.

I alternate icing my foot and icing my eye. I am a mess.

This comment is mainly for the person who searched conjunctival cyst on google and was directed to this post. My conjunctival cyst is a small clear bump that occasionally appears on the eyeball in the corner of my eye. I was first diagnosed with it in 1998. Acc. to the doctor, the causes are unknown, it’s most likely the result of irritation or stress. The cyst can flare up and disappear several times a day, as it did the day I was diagnosed (I was afraid the doctor would accuse me of hypochondria). If the cyst gets so big that the eye cannot close, the doctor can drain it, but that is only a temporary solution. It’s just one of those things that happens, and they don’t have a cure for it. It doesn’t mean that the eye is unhealthy.
