Nature Special

November 15, 2007 at 5:51 pm (Fauna Files)

What did I see from the balcony outside my office?  A little nuclear deer family: a young buck and doe and a tiny fawn scampering in the woods right near my building.  For one brief moment, I thought, “If I only had my M-1, it’d be venison for dinner.”  Instead, I just said, “Awww, how cute!”

Hmmm… I did not know this charming side of you, it makes me smile warmly. AND SCREAM NO PLEASE DONT SHOOT AND EAT BAMBI!

and then remember that deer in this area are kind of overpopulated.

and then think still aww. thats sweet still.
and then wonder about deer divorce rates.
and then remember that stags typically have 3 or four such families….
wondering why ppl dont have such arrangements
And then remember that this kind of talk can get me all kinds of shot. much like deer.

and then notice shooting, vermin problems, deprivation, tyranny of pies and nature special,

wow your posts have an odd rustic bucolic feel to them of late. I think you need to get out from behind your monitor get out to the country and traipse around middle america for a bit!

I do like to traipse, it’s true. Does Ohio count? I’ll be there at the end of the week.

Whenever I see deer, I think, “Ugh, ticks!” My one and only trip to Fire Island ruined deer for me.
