Granny died this morning in her sleep.  She was 93 years old.  It was peaceful.

  1. La Belle Helene said,

    I miss my Granny.

  2. yoko said,

I’m glad she ended her life quietly.

  3. Ten Feet of Steel said,

Oh. I associate her with my memories of being young and foolish in New York. I always enjoyed calling the house and hearing her say, “Hol’ on…”, even though it meant I could be waiting on the phone forever for one of you to get on the line. I’m glad she had a long, full life that ended peacefully.

I’m saddened to hear about your loss. Your stories about Granny–especially how she wanted everyone, regardless of age or origin, to just call her Granny–still make me smile.

  5. Mama Ass said,

I’m sorry to hear that you lost her. I remember staying in her bedroom one night when she was away and marveling in the quantity and diversity of her anti-constipation medicines. It is sweet to have had Granny.

  6. Quiconque said,

Yeah, that was when they thought she couldn’t go to the toilet because she was backed up. Later the doctors discovered a hairline fracture in one of her lower vertebrae. It’s hard to bear down with a broken back.

Also, what you saw may have been empty boxes and bottles. Growing up in scarcity made Granny a bit of a hoarder.
